Best Natural + Organic Perfume

To say i have looked far and wide for an actual organic and 100% natural perfume solution would be an understatement. After-all i am of persian heritage and we take our perfumes quite seriously.

There were many brands that i still consider pretty ok and didnt fully disappoint, such as the Vanessa Meghan line of natural perfumes and the one seed perfumes that are also actually 100% natural. But neither of these brands really were able to hit the node of the true lost artistry of perfumery i knew was possible and previously the norm but had been fully forgotten and deliberately squashed by the synthetic markets that targeted the beauty industry to make immense amounts of money.

You see, the art of essential oils and scent making was difficult and time consuming, the materials expensive and delicate, so perfumes were naturally expensive and one had to devote their life to scents and the art of it, so it was no wonder that we are still ok with spending 100s of dollars on a perfume bottle since for as long as we remember perfumes were extremely luxurious and expensive due to the craftsmanship and lifelong expertise of making them.

But fast forward to the atrocious german company during wwII figuring out how to clone / copy vitamins and any natural compounds + substances into crude oil. And the inevitable teaming up of these scientists with the most evil oil refinery tycoon of the 20th century john d rockefeller. Then you start to see how companies started to steal these signature scents of essential oil artists by cloning them, being able to make them at not even a fraction but fraction of a fraction of the cost of what it would take to make and practice the art of perfumery and essential oil composing. This is the "dream" profit margin for evil snake oil salesmen who wish domination over all others and wish to destroy their more creative and skilled competitors that they cannot compete with naturally themselves.

So after realising this history you start to understand what happened to this amazing art and practice. I always had a feeling and a memory of this deep inside that i was looking for. I looked and tried many brands of natural or artisan perfumes. From the artisan labs of Le labo to the remotely more natural Henry Rose but all still smelled synthetic and lacked the substance to click and align with these cell held memories. Then I started to only try 100% natural and organic perfumes, such as Vanessa Meghan and One Seed Perfumes, both pretty cool Australian brands i might i add, that i still enjoy, whilst these brands held on to the guideline of 100% natural and didn't compromise with semi synthetic ingredients, it was still obvious they lacked the knowledge, expertise and artistry of creating and synthesising scents on the level i knew was the previous norm when we had space and appreciation for these artists in society.

I will never forget the day I laid eyes on Pegasus Auro Soma, scents. Even the name excited me, since those are all words i resonate with and they reflect the consciousness corridors i occupy. But when i went on their website i could not believe my eyes. Eureka! finally i had found what i knew was out there and was very much possible despite the lack of everyday evidence.

Aura-Soma Pegasus fragrances demonstrate the visual and non-visual energies of colour, combining the energies of both essential oils and herbal extracts, evoking a beautiful aroma and the potential to enlighten the wearer's mood.

Until the development of modern perfumery in the 1880s, fragrances were made using natural materials. Since that time the marketplace has become dominated with perfumes made using synthetic chemicals, fixatives and solvents.

We have strived to go back to the art of embracing the subtleties and complexities of using purely natural and organic materials. Seasonal variations in natural crops, minute yields and arduous extraction processes make the development so much more challenging but also more creative and fulfilling. The resultant fragrance blends are soft, well rounded and wonderfully pure.

In their own words:

"Our range of Aura-Soma Pegasus perfume is created using only natural and organic essential oils extracted from plants and flowers. The alcohol, which is used as the fragrance carrier, is certified Organic by the Soil Association and fermented from pure organic grain. By using organic grade materials we can be sure that our fine ingredients are not exposed to pollution or pesticides. Our perfumes are guaranteed free from petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances and preservatives.

Pegasus is made with love and intention by Aura-Soma Products Limited.

Aura-Soma Products Ltd is dedicated to actively working with the earth's ecosystem, supporting the planet towards a healthy and harmonious future. By taking responsibility for what we create we believe that we are not only contributing to the solution for reducing our footprint on the earth, but also helping to generate a future with more love, care and consciousness.

Our eco-friendly practices include biodegradable ingredients, sustainable and recyclable packaging where possible, recycling the necessities of a busy company, and the active involvement - for over 25 years - of planting trees and establishing sustainable woodlands. We respect and care about animal welfare, and are naturally cruelty-free and against animal testing."

All of this was music to my ears but not necessarily what makes them stand out and be able to embody what i was talking about earlier pertaining to the lost art of perfumery.

Heres what the chairmen had to say about the development of these scents:

"It is a great honour to be in the position of bringing another part of the vision of Vicky Wall into reality with the launching of Aura-Soma Pegasus, eight wonderful new varieties of perfume.

The eight varieties that we have are the result of a co-operation with 'Creative Perfumers Limited' and its founder Anastasia. She has a 'nose of exception' which means that she has trained herself in a very special way to be able to balance essential oils and perfumes and to bring them together in total harmony. This is an increasingly dying art but, in my opinion, she is one of the finest exponents of this art in the world. We work in close co-operation with her because I believe she is also capable of what is referred to as synaesthesia. This implies cross-sensory perceptual ability.

Anastasia has a set of Aura-Soma® bottles, the 110 different colour combinations. She requests that each of her client's visits begins in front of the Aura-Soma bottles She asks them to select the bottles that appeal to them the most, Anastasia then determines the fragrances based on those colour selections, her experience and what she has learnt. Over the years of development as the process continued we found that certain notes and certain colours came up time and time again. The eight fragrances or blends are related to specific Aura-Soma bottles. The number on the Pegasus bottle is actually directly connected to the number on the Equilibrium colour combination from the Aura-Soma Colour-Care-System®. This affirms the synaesthetic relationship between the perfume and that specific colour bottle. It is a complete circle of experience: colour to aroma, smell back to colour which is a tremendous thing in terms of what the world of fragrance, the world of perfume, the world of colour is going to experience.

Synaesthesia, another intimate interest of mine is also mentioned and has been incorporated into the experience of interfacing with these bottles.

After having bought myself a bottle and trying the full experience by choosing my favourite coloured bottle and the first one that stood out to me. I can truly say i am blown away. Not only that i truly love the scent of the colour of bottle i chose but also that i was not disappointed to find a true perfume and not just a few essential oils stacked on top of each other.

A perfume is not meant to remind you of something specific but to excite in you a memory of a time a place, either eons away or the perfectly intimate moment you shared with a loved one yesterday. A true perfume can paint the present and be a clue back to a beautiful moment, for it is truly unique to that time and space. Eternal yet fleeting. I can say that i have found the brand i can finally co-create with on this level and i am grateful for the team for not compromising on their values when it is so easy and convenient to do so.

I hope this helps for those looking to bring back the majic of perfumes back into their life after the many pitfalls and negative experiences that have come with the perfumes we have been around int his day and age.

Also would like to mention it is a very powerful and strong perfume, i actually cannot use more than one or two sprays that i walk into, something i use to make fun of people for doing. But this perfume has such staying power that this is all i need and anything more is over-powering, this is another way where it feels truly like a perfume and not a light and natural essential oil spray that dissipates within an hour to at times minutes!

I also have not been paid or sponsored by anyone to say any of this.

Thank you for reading :)

Love, Sania
